Filetopia uses the peer-to-peer (P2P) networking technology to help you share files with others. This means that this application is a P2P file sharing tool that you can use to share files with friends and other people. You do that by creating or joining a room. You can create a room just for yourself and your friends, or you can join an existing room and see what other people have shared.

Filetopia is available as an installer for 32- and 64-bit Windows editions and it is also available as a portable version. Both require Java. The installer comes bundled with Java, so you don’t have to worry about a thing. The portable version doesn’t come bundled with Java, meaning you will have to download and install it on your own.

Filetopia has a dark-themed, tabbed interface that doesn’t do much if you don’t sign into your account. You can register for an account by providing a username, password and email address. Alternatively, you can sign up via Facebook. No matter which option you go for, it shouldn’t be difficult to register for a Filetopia account.

Rooms are a big part of using Filetopia. You see, that’s how you share files and communicate with others – via rooms. You could create a room for yourself and your friends; this way, you’ll be able to share whatever you want to share, and you’ll be able to chat with your friends via the built-in messenger. Or you could join an existing room, chat with the people in that room, and download files those people have shared.

Filetopia is free software.

Need to share files with others? Filetopia is the peer-to-peer tool that will help you do that. Filetopia is free, lets you set up private rooms to share files, and it even comes with a built-in messenger.

Pros

Filetopia is available as a portable version and as an installer; the installer asks you if you want to choose a portable installation. Signing up for an account is a simple task; you can even sign up via Facebook. Filetopia’s interface can be extensively customized. You can own one public room and as many private rooms as you want. You can host your own rooms. All communications within the Filetopia Network and peer to peer are encrypted. There’s a built-in messenger. Filetopia is free software.

Cons

Filetopia is based on Java. Security experts say that Java is too much of a risk and you should stay away from it.
